Meet Gian!

Gian Paolo Girardi—is the founder of the Brain Optimization Institute. In the early 1980’s Gian completed a Masters of Arts in Counseling Psychology and obtained a California State License to practice psychotherapy. He has accumulated extensive experience, gained through more than twenty years of working with clients.

Eventually he renounced his license as a statement of personal independence from the tradition-laden mainstream, with its inherent limitations and over-regulations. He presently devotes most of his time to education and to his vision for BOI.

“Awakening the Student to their True Nature as Consciousness,” the ‘experiential‘ work session presented in the 2nd episode of this program Gian provides us with a solid foundation to help us tackle the root of suffering.

Gian’s teachings show us that the truly effective pursuit of happiness is not about moving from feeling bad to feeling good, but to reach a place of inner liberation above both.

Although not a spiritual goal in itself, feeling good may naturally come as a byproduct, the result so to speak, of a life lived with inner detachment from the mind-body organism and identification with Awareness; that which observes the mind-body organism.

Many of us are drawn into the abyss of unhappiness, depression, emotional isolation, anxiety, caused by false, racing thoughts, constant misinterpretations of what is real, false beliefs about past and future, and lack of attention to the here and now.

There is a way out of all this. However, it is not about changing our mental contents from negative to positive, because the mind will never be completely positive. The mind is part of nature and it is supposed to be imperfect; so it will always have a negative side. What really works is to inquire into the nature of that mysterious Awareness which perceives the mental objects – positive or negative. Is that Awareness my true Self?
